SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Shreveport City Council held a special public safety meeting Tuesday, Nov. 4 at Government Plaza, addressing recent violence in the downtown area following a Halloween weekend fight .

Concerns of violence downtown has grown since this fight comes after previous violent incidents. The more than three-hour meeting drew a packed room of residents who voiced concerns about public safety.

Council members said the violence is not a norm they will accept.

“When you see what you saw from this weekend, it causes you to lose a measure of hope. I am here, I live here, this council lives here, we have children who live here we want you to have a safe Shreveport,” said Tabatha Taylor during the meeting.
