PHOENIX — A man was arrested shortly after robbing a bank in Maricopa on Tuesday, according to officials with the city's police department.

Officers responded to reports of a robbery at Chase Bank around 11:55 a.m. on Tuesday, officials said. The man allegedly passed a note to a bank employee claiming to have a weapon and demanding money. The man left the scene before officers arrived but was spotted nearby "within minutes," officials said.

The man, identified as Cesar Sanchez, 40, was arrested and positively identified by bank employees, officials said.

The FBI has been notified, and the investigation is ongoing, officials said.
