GOODYEAR, Ariz. — A Valley woman had a 70th birthday that she will never forget for all of the wrong reasons. She was scammed out of nearly $10,000, money she was saving for her son's medical treatments.

Thanks to a new Arizona law, there is a chance she could get her money back.

"I was afraid. I was scared. I just wanted it all to end."

October 15 should have been a good day for Gale Barr. It was her 70th birthday.

She recently came out of retirement and went back to work in the medical field to help pay for her son's medical treatments. She was finishing up her three-hour shift on her birthday when she checked her voicemail. She was looking forward to listening to celebratory messages.

Instead, she was greeted with a voicemail from a criminal.
