Chicago police were investigating after a collision left two elderly men dead in the Wrightwood neighborhood on the city's Southwest Side, police said.
The crash was reported at approximately 2:57 p.m. along West 87th Street near South California Avenue. According to police, a 73-year-old man driving an SUV eastbound on 87th Street attempted to make a left-hand turn to head northbound on California Avenue. A collision then occurred, with a sedan striking the SUV head-on.
The driver and his passenger, a 76-year-old man, were both taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where they were pronounced dead. The driver of the sedan, a 21-year-old man, sustained an injury to his right leg and was hospitalized in fair condition. He was cited for failure to reduce speed.
