Proposition 409, which would grant about $900 million in bonds to the region's public health agency, was passing by a slim margin, according to early voting results.

The measure was being approved by 50.96% of voters, according to results released about 8 p.m. by the Maricopa County Recorder's Office. More than 288,000 votes were cast for the measure compared with 277,141 against.

Early results from Maricopa County are mail-in ballots. Still to be counted were ballots dropped off a polls today and any in-person voting.

The proposition, promoted by Valleywise Health, would use bonds paid for through property taxes to expand services across the county.
