MACOMB (WGEM) - Macomb elementary school students got to see some birds of prey up close Tuesday.
Representatives from the Illinois Raptor Center and Ameren Illinois were at Edison School educating students on why Ameren’s Avian Protection Program works to protect large birds of prey.
“Make sure that the lines are safe for giant birds of prey landing on them because a utility pole looks like a giant bird perch and what we do we is we just talk a little bit about the natural history of that and a little bit about how human beings like Ameren can fix systems like that so we don’t have problems with dead birds down the road,” said Jacques Nuzzo, the Illinois Raptor Center Program Director.
