PHOENIX – Proposition 409, a nearly $900 million health care bond measure, moved closer to victory with the the second round of Maricopa County election results.

The “yes” lead for Prop 409 increased to 51.4% -48.6% with Wednesday’s update. It was 50.96%-49.04% when the first batch of results was released on Election Day.

The latest results covered 672,290 ballots, representing a turnout of 25.34%. The Prop 409 margin was roughly 19,000 votes (342,376 yes, 323,704 no).

An estimated 36,490 ballots remained uncounted after Wednesday’s report, according to the Maricopa County Elections Department.

Of the uncounted ballots, 26,900 were ready for pre-tabulation processing, 90 were provisional ballots and 8,500 were awaiting signature curing. The deadline for ballot signature curing is 5 p.m
