NIXA, Mo. (KY3) - Voters in Nixa failed a tax levy increase to fund the district’s operations.

Question 1 lost by more than 65% of the vote. The vote difference was 1,971 to 1,026.

The question would have added 25 cents per $100 of assessed value to property tax bills in the district. The district noted that expenses have continued to rise as fire calls have increased.

Assistant Fire Chief Whitney Weaver released this statement to KY3 regarding the defeat:

“While we’re disappointed that the Levy did not pass, we respect the decision of Nixa voters. We recognize that many families are facing their own financial pressures, and we appreciate everyone who took the time to learn about this issue and cast their vote.
