A mother who was jailed for almost starving her ballerina daughter to death has been denied bail.
The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was jailed for three years after a jury found her guilty in the Perth District Court of failing to protect her daughter from harm between 2019 and 2021 and providing inadequate emotional, social and functional development.
The girl’s father was also jailed for the reckless care of a child that resulted in her suffering and forging his daughter’s birth certificate to make it appear she was years younger than she was.
The girl presented at Perth Children’s Hospital severely malnourished on April 7, 2021.
