MILAN, MI — Milan voters approved renewing a millage for the Milan Public Library at the polls Tuesday, Nov. 4.

The nearly .22-mill tax levy will be used for operating and maintaining the Milan Public Library for the next seven years.

The millage renewal received 787 “yes” votes and 315 “no” votes.

The city anticipates collecting roughly $53,000 the first year if the millage is approved. A resident who owns a $200,000 home would pay about $22 a year.

Milan voters also filled two seats on the library’s board of directors for six years. Winners are Kelsey Winter with 612 votes and Michelle Walters with 587 votes. They defeated Rodney Hill, who received 327 votes, and Peter Kentes, who received 140 votes.
