A fresh face will join the North Liberty City Council alongside a 14-year veteran, while the mayor earned a second term to lead the ever-growing city following the 2025 election.
Mayor Chris Hoffman earned 1,982 votes, as he ran uncontested for a second term as the leader of North Liberty, according to preliminary results from the Iowa Secretary of State's Office .
Incumbent city councilor Brian Wayson was the top vote-getter in the council race, earning 1,774 votes (50.6%) and finishing ahead of newcomer Tonja Fortney, who received 1,654 votes (47.2%). Fortney joins an elected office for the first time.
Hoffman ran unopposed for his second term as mayor, while two candidates registered to battle for a pair of council seats.
