DeSoto County voters returned to the polls Nov. 4 to cast their ballots in the Mississippi Senate special elections.

Senate districts on the ballot in North Mississippi were 1, 2, 11 and 19.

The special elections were the result of court-ordered legislative redistricting requiring the creation of a new majority-Black district in DeSoto County. Three other districts in the area were slightly redrawn — though that still means that the incumbent needs to run for election.

The winners of the special elections will serve until November 2027, when the seats will be up for election again for four-year terms along with the rest of the state Senate positions in Mississippi.

In DeSoto County, 20,120 ballots were cast, with a 15.25% turnout.

Here are the unofficial results as of 10:30 p.m. Nov
