GREENVILLE, N.C. (WITN) - It’s been a busy Tuesday night for voters and candidates in Greenville, as results came in for several races.
Incumbent Mayor P.J. Connelly was reelected, defeating mayoral candidate Mildred Atkinson Council by 1,262 votes.
Connelly, who has served as mayor for 8 years and on council for two years, will be entering his fifth term as mayor.
Council served in Greenville’s City Council from 1987 to 2009, serving as member and mayor pro tem under three mayors.
Both shared their final messages to voters before polls closed.
