HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Whitesburg Christian Warriors tried something for the first time on Tuesday afternoon at Milton Frank Stadium.
"These kids have never played on a turf field," head coach Jere Adcock said.
A surface change doesn't sound like a big deal on its own, but the Warriors had a good reason for doing it. On Thursday, the team will head to Florence to take on the defending 3A state champs from Mars Hill in Whitesburg's first-ever playoff game.
The program has only existed since 2020 and never finished with a regular season record better than 5-5, which was good enough to get them into the postseason this year.
