Democrat Josh Siegel, a Pennsylvania state representative, defeated Republican Roger MacLean, a former Allentown police chief, in Tuesday’s election for Lehigh County executive .

Siegel, 31, had a commanding lead over MacLean as of 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. His 56,611 votes to MacLean’s 36,798 votes was good for more than 60% of the tally, unofficial results show.

Results are unofficial until certified. As of midnight Tuesday, Lehigh County was reporting partial results from Election Day votes across all precincts, in addition to partial mail-in ballots and provisional ballots.

The county executive serves as the top administrator in county government. Outgoing incumbent Democrat Phil Armstrong couldn’t run again because of a two-term limit.
