A 30-year-old man who allegedly yelled that he was going to shoot and stab people while walking along a Leanyer street on Tuesday night has been arrested, testing positive for drugs, NT Police said.

Police said they received multiple reports about the man making the threats to cause violence “involving a firearm and an edged weapon” around 9:20pm Tuesday night, while he was walking along Rosewood Crescent.

Police located the man on VRD Drive where he was arrested “without incident”.

“The alleged offender was not found to be in possession of any weapons at the time of his arrest,” police media director Mark Wilton said in a statement.

“He was conveyed to the watch house where he underwent drug and alcohol testing, returning a positive drug result.”

Police said the man remains in custod
