BROOKLYN – Xavier Solgot is clearly the most improved runner in Division 1 this season.
Ditto teamwise for Romeo.
Solgot, a sophomore from Macomb L’Anse Creuse North, was the top Macomb County area finisher at Saturday’s MHSAA Lower Peninsula Division 1 state finals at Michigan Speedway.
After failing to finish in the top 200 as a freshman at the state meet, Solgot clocked an even 15:18.00 to finish 11th overall at the state finals, lowering his school record yet again by nearly 11 seconds and become the highest state-meet finisher in school history.
Northville scored 125 points to upend Ann Arbor Pioneer (134) to win the Division 1 state title in a closely-contested race. Kalamazoo Central was third (176) with Brighton (202) and Clarkston (211) following suit in the top five in the 27
