NEW BALTIMORE – While Anchor Bay had some ups and downs on the volleyball court during the regular season, the Tars were sharp Monday in their Division 1 pre-district match.
Anchor Bay advanced to Wednesday’s district semifinals on its home floor with a 25-21, 25-18, 25-16 victory over Port Huron Northern.
Kendyl Gira paced the way with 17 kills for Anchor Bay (20-22-1). Gianna Peiffer added eight blocks and four aces, Raveann Deriemacker scooped up 29 digs and Emma Baaso had 29 assists in the win for Anchor Bay.
Port Huron Northern finished the year with a very respectable record of 31-10-1.
ARMADA 25-14-25-17-15, ALMONT 22-25-23-25-11 >> Wins were hard to by in the regular season for both teams. It is only fitting that these two arch-rivals fought tooth-and-nail to a five-game thrill
