CLEVELAND, Ohio — Mayor Justin Bibb coasted to an expected victory Tuesday night, defeating challenger Laverne Gore by a 49-point margin.
Bibb has tallied 27,886 votes to Gore’s 9,547, according to unofficial election results posted by the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections. As of 11:05 p.m. results were in from 162 of 254 precincts.
Tuesday’s election was not expected to be close. Most of Bibb’s likely challengers are holding off and waiting until at least 2029 to run for mayor.
Bibb will have another four years to fulfill the campaign promises he made in 2021, when he went from relative unknown to stunning Cleveland’s political establishment, beating then Council President Kevin Kelley 63% to 38%.
