Donald Trump shared a four-word message after a dismal night for his Republican party as a socialist became New York City's new mayor.

The Democrats won five key elections last night (November 4), with the headline being victory in the Big Apple's mayoral contest.

Zohran Mamdani, 34, is a member of the Democratic Socialists of America , on the left wing of the Democratic party.

He has become the city's first Muslim mayor, the first of South Asian heritage and the first born in Africa - having been born in Uganda and raised in New York City, before becoming a US citizen in 2018.
