Sir David Beckham admits he shed "a few tears" as he received his knighthood.

The 50-year-old Manchester United legend was recognised by King Charles III in a ceremony at Windsor Castle on Tuesday (November 4), after receiving the honour for services to sport and charity.

He has since opened up on the "special day". Sir David told The Sun newspaper: “Today has been such an emotional day — more emotion than nerves, in all honesty.

"There have been a few tears and a lot of emotion. It’s been a very special day. It’s something that we can all be proud of today as a family.
