A Stirling artist who has been nominated for a prestigious national music award for a third time has shared how the memories and lessons of a near-fatal attack have shaped his journey to stardom. ‌

Stephen McAll, who records under the artist title Constant Follower, was left hospitalised with permanent head injuries and memory loss after a brutal gang attack in East Kilbride. ‌

But that close shave prompted McAll into his musical journey, rebuilding his life after years of being troubled by memory loss, chronic pain and the challenge of getting involved with creativity. ‌

A chance gift of poetry from legendary Edinburgh writer Norman MacCaig helped him reconnect with words, and eventually with songwriting itself.
