For many Delaware households, grocery shopping has become a weekly test of how far a paycheck can stretch. A new study shows that as food prices continue to climb faster than wages, the cost of filling a store cart is squeezing family budgets throughout the First State.

A new national analysis by Roostys , a poultry producer, ranked Delaware 16th in the country for the share of household income spent on groceries — making it less affordable than most of its regional neighbors. The study compared average grocery costs, median full-time salaries and the percentage of income spent on food across all 50 states.
