Alex Salmond’s 88 year old widow could be forced to sell their family home to help pay the former First Minister’s debts, it has been claimed . ‌

A bankruptcy expert said Moira Salmond could be hit with a bill to pay off her late husband’s creditors. ‌

It was claimed over the weekend that Salmond had died last year in North Macedonia v irtually penniless . ‌

His supporters say he had been ruined financially by having to clear his name of sexual assault allegations in two court cases.

Lawyers acting on his behalf are applying to have a “trustee in sequestration” appointed, which is akin to declaring Salmond’s estate bankrupt.

However, the spotlight has now turned to the converted mill Salmond and his widow shared for decades in Strichen, Aberdeenshire.
