SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - The Akron Zoo will be closed Wednesday, so staff can conduct safety drills.
Akron firefighters, Akron Police and representatives from Summa Health will be participating.
“These drills allow us to ensure guest and animal safety and also serves as a training opportunity for our first responders,” posted representatives from the Akron Zoo on Facebook.
Zoo officials said all animals will be safely in their habitats and bedrooms.
“The only animals running around will be those staff members in animal onesies!” added zoo officials on Facebook.
The zoo will reopen to the public on Thursday at 11 a.m.
