Billionaire Bill Ackman is offering a hand to Democrat Zohran Mamdani after he was projected as the winner of New York City’s mayoral election Tuesday night.

Ackman, a supporter of President Donald Trump , had predicted a victory in the race for former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo , who ran as an independent — only a couple of hours before polls closed in the city.

“If Andrew wins, he is going to be a great mayor,” the hedge fund founder posted on X. “Why? Because he will owe nothing to the Democratic Party and he will be working only for his legacy. He can therefore do whatever is right for NYC for the long term without worrying about the political consequences.”
