BRAINERD — Week One of Tony Couture as head coach of the Brainerd/Little Falls Warriors is in the books.
According to the 28-year coaching veteran, things went better than expected.
“Our first week of practice went well,” Couture said. “We scrimmaged on Saturday in Minneapolis and that went well, too. The girls took to a new coach pretty well. It wasn’t completely different, but we really focused on getting in shape as fast as we could. I was pretty impressed with how hard they worked.”
Couture has three goals for the early season. He wants his girls to have fun, work “extremely” hard and be a little more gritty.
With just seven seniors, Couture knows it’s going to be a learning experience this season. Not just learning his style of coaching, but learning how to play varsity hockey. He
