ALEXANDRIA — Back in the state tournament for the first time since 2019, the Pierz Pioneers (10-0) earned the No. 2 seed in the North and play the No. 3-seeded Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton Rebels (8-2) at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 7, at Alexandria High School.
“DGF is a big, physical team,” Pierz head coach Danny Saehr said. “They’re the biggest team we’ve seen all year. So it will be a challenge.”
Pierz reached state by defeating Pequot Lakes 35-0 in the Section 7-3A Final on Halloween. The Pioneers held the Patriots to 40 total yards and two first downs.
“It’s that time of year and it’s fun,” Saehr said. “Last week, we were playing to go to state, and now we are one win away from playing at US Bank Stadium. We talked to the kids after Friday to enjoy the Pequot win, but flip the switch come Satu
