Two Democrat candidates have won Dauphin County row offices responsible for maintaining the civil and criminal records of the court.
Democrat Tina Nixon boxed Republican and Penbrook Mayor John McDonald out of the once-troubled clerk of courts office , while Republican two-term incumbent Matt Krupp lost the prothonotary office to Democrat challenger Antonio Carreno.
Nixon received 45,728 votes, leading McDonald by 11,000 votes. Meanwhile, Carreno got 44,147 votes, leading Krupp by around 8,500 votes.
Carreno is an artist and entrepreneur from the Harrisburg area. Nixon is a consultant.
Dauphin County found out how pivotal the clerk of courts office is to court functions last year when previously elected Democrat Clerk of Courts Bridget Whitley took office and replaced a key employee,
