After having a lot of success in the 1990s and 2000s — during which the Lancers won six state football championships — the McQueen football program took a step back in recent seasons.
McQueen reached the title game in 2021, where they ran into perennial Southern Nevada powerhouse Bishop Gorman.
This year, the Lancers are the best team in the Class 4A-North, going 5-0 in league, 8-2 overall. With that success, they're making the move to the Class 5A-North next season.
McQueen hosts North Valleys (2-8 overall, 2-3) in the first round of 4A-North Regional playoffs at 6 p.m. Friday.
