KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A man is dead after he was hit by a car east of Clinton Tuesday night.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash happened just before 7 p.m., when a man was hit while his 1984 Chevrolet 2500 was stopped with no lights on in the eastbound lanes of Route C, just west of NE 851st Road.

Troopers said he was standing behind the truck when a 20-year-old man driving a 2022 Toyota Corolla rear-ended the Chevrolet.

The man who was standing behind the truck was hit and was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as a 50-year-old from Warrensburg.

The man driving the Toyota was taken to a hospital with "moderate" injuries.

Troopers did not release the names of either person involved in the crash.
