Rain started falling in the Bay Area before sunrise Wednesday and was expected to move on by the afternoon.

The heaviest rain was expected in the North Bay. In areas to the south, a National Weather Service meteorologist said, it would probably top out at half an inch.
The more notable element of the storm was the accompanying wind, with gusts up to 55 mph predicted. A wind advisory was in effect for most of the Bay Area until 4 p.m. Wednesday.
