Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced that the state government is in the process of writing to the United Nations seeking recognition of legendary artist Dr Bhupen Hazarika’s timeless song ‘Manuhe Manuhor Babe’ as the “Song of Humanity” for the entire world.

Speaking on the occasion of Dr Hazarika’s 14th death anniversary, the Chief Minister described the song as “not only an asset for the people of Assam but for all humanity.”

“For this song to get recognised as the song of humanity of the entire world, the Assam government has decided to write to the United Nations,” Sarma said.
