Hours after his historic win , Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani joined "Mornings On 1" to reflect on his campaign and victory.
According to the Associated Press, with nearly 90% of the expected vote counted, Mamdani holds 50.4%, while former Gov. Andrew Cuomo has 41.6% and Republican Curtis Sliwa has 7.1%.
Mamdani, 34, will be the first Muslim and the first person of South Asian descent to lead the city.
He is set to be the five boroughs' 111th mayor — and the youngest in more than a century.
