One City Council race some voters were watching on election night was in Council District 13 in the Bronx.
The borough’s only Republican council member, Kristy Marmorato, lost to newcomer and longtime labor organizer Shirley Aldebol, who is a Democrat.
Marmorato made headlines two years ago for flipping the seat red and becoming the first Bronx Republican elected to the City Council in decades.
But this time around, the seat was flipped back to blue by a margin of almost 2,000 votes.
Councilmember-elect Aldebol joined NY1 political anchor Errol Louis on “Inside City Hall” Thursday.
She is currently attending the annual political conference “SOMOS El Futuro” in Puerto Rico.
