BIRMINGHAM, Ala. —
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has warned that air travel could face significant disruptions if the government shutdown continues, with air traffic controllers and TSA agents missing a second paycheck nationwide.
At Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport, flights are currently on time, and some are even early. However, Duffy cautioned that this situation could change within a week.
"But make no mistake, the longer this goes on, everyday these hard working Americans have bills they have to pay, and they're being forced to make decisions and choices...And as every day goes by, I think the problem is going to only get worse, not better."
