Zohran Mamdani’s stunning victory in the New York City mayoral election may be awkward for senior Democrats who failed fully to endorse him – including New York’s two senators.

The 34-year-old socialist was elected mayor of America’s most populous city with the highest voter turnout in more than 50 years. But House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, who represents a Brooklyn district, only endorsed him late last month.
