MESA, Ariz. — A domestic violence incident in Mesa turned into a police standoff involving several officers, the city's police department said.

Officers responded to a domestic violence call on Wednesday near University Drive and Greenfield Road. On the scene, police said they found a woman with multiple injuries. She was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Authorities spent much of the morning attempting to make contact with an individual inside the Mesa residence.

Sky12 footage showed several police vehicles stationed in the neighborhood. Smoke could be seen emanating from the residence where officers were standing near.
