A Midland police officer has been accused of attacking a teenage boy at a care home.

Pc James Wilkinson, of Derbyshire Constabulary, is alleged to have assaulted a 17-year-old boy.

The incident was said to have taken place after he was called to a residential care home in March, the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) said.

The 49-year-old was charged with one count of actual bodily harm and was due in court this week.

The charge came after the IOPC sent a file of evidence to the Crown Prosecution Service.

The watchdog launched a probe after Derbyshire Constabulary received two complaints.

Wilkinson was due to appear at Nottingham Magistrates' Court on Thursday, November 6.
