Organizers of Two Rivers HomeSTEAD — science, technology, environment, agriculture, design — presented the application for the charter school to the Fairbanks North Star Borough School Board Monday night, seeking approval to open the school for the 2026-27 year.

This is the second application for a charter school in the district this year and like Pearl Creek STEAM Charter, it comes from a community whose school was closed by the board at the end of last year due to the district’s budget deficit.

Two Rivers is proposing a school less than a third of the size submitted in the Pearl Creek application, which was denied Oct. 21. Based on feedback from the board at the presentation meeting, Two Rivers’ application budget appears to add up a bit better.
