DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - The federal government shutdown has reached day 36, officially making it the longest one U.S. history.
This shutdown has surpassed the previous record of 35 days which was set in 2019.
Northland leaders, like Republican Congressman Pete Stauber, are voicing their frustrations with leaders in Washington.
“The Democrats are leveraging the pain of the American people for their legislative agenda,” Stauber said. “It’s simply unacceptable. I urge my two U.S. Senators to vote to open up the government.”
Meanwhile, Northland Sen. Grant Hauschild voiced his disappointment with the shutdown.
The DFLer claims it is just one example of federal leaders not living up to their responsibilities.
