State pensioners will receive free £70 payments on Wednesday or Thursday. The Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) Household Support Fund is assisting retirees this week, particularly in Wakefield.

Councillor Daniel Wilton, Cabinet Member for Communities, and the Leader of the Council, Councillor Denise Jeffery, have been out in the community speaking to residents about our Household Support Fund.

As with previous funds, the council has allocated most of the grant to supermarket vouchers, which it is providing to residents in receipt of Council Tax Support.
