Parents and other community members will have a chance to voice their opinions about the possible closure of Scottsdale Unified School District’s Pima Elementary and Echo Canyon K-8 schools at 6 p.m., Nov. 13 in the governing board room at Coronado High School, 7501 E. Virginia Ave., in Scottsdale.
District superintendent Dr. Scott Menzel is recommending closing the two schools as a means to cut into a projected $8 million funding shortfall next year created in part by declining enrollment in the district. Both Pima and Echo Canyon have fallen below 300 students this year.
The district governing board is expected to vote on the issue during it’s Dec. 9 meeting
