Boil water order issued for parts of Du Quoin

DU QUOIN, Ill. (WSIL) -- The City of Du Quoin waterworks and sewerage system has issued a boil order for certain areas of the city.

The affected areas include Old 14 West of Old Du Quoin Road, all of New 14, Blacksop, Sweetgum, Crabapple, and Beech. The order is due to repair work being performed on the lines in these locations.

The boil order is effective immediately and will remain in place until further notice. Once the environmental protection agency approves tests on the water, notifications will be sent out to inform residents that the boil order has been lifted.
