RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — As the need for help in food access intensifies, an urban farm in Raleigh is expanding with support from the local government, announcing a second location at Marsh Creek Park.
Raleigh City Farm is a non-profit founded in 2011 that hosts a weekly pay-what-you-can farmstand at its site on 800 N Blount St. What started as a vacant one-acre lot in downtown Raleigh has become a hub for community gardening and alternatives to food access.
"A new urban farm is taking root at Marsh Creek Park," officials said in a news release. "In a new partnership with Raleigh City Farm, the city is supporting community enrichment, agricultural education, and food access as part of Raleigh Parks' commitment to creating healthy, vibrant spaces for all."
