EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — The Evansville Rescue Mission's annual Drumstick Dash 5K is set to take place this Saturday, November 8.

The event promises a morning of fun, fitness, and community support, with proceeds going towards the Gobbler Gathering. This initiative will distribute 2,500 food boxes to local families in need.

"The Drumstick Dash is such a fun way to unite the community around a shared purpose," said Tracy Gorman, President and CEO of the Evansville Rescue Mission.

Each food box weighs about 70 pounds, totaling 175,000 pounds of food to provide Thanksgiving meals for more than 10,000 people in the community.
