Smithfield schools superintendent Dawn Bartz has been placed on "administrative leave" as the district investigates how administrators handled "a football matter," according to the chairman of the town's school committee.
School Committee Chairman Richard Iannitelli did not specify the particular "football matter," but the announcement follows the committee's decision to launch the investigation on Nov. 3 at a meeting where Bartz made comments about the district's readiness to confront antisemitism.
