An 18-year-old woman who died from a gunshot wound at a Midtown public housing complex over the weekend was the victim of a homicide, city medical examiners said Wednesday.

Police officers discovered Kimberly Olimos, 18, just before 1 a.m. Sunday as they responded to a 911 call about an assault inside the Harborview Terrace complex on West 55th Street near 10th Avenue, according to the NYPD. Officials said she was shot in her head and was later pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Morningside Hospital.

Police initially said they were looking into the possibility that Olimos committed suicide. But the city’s Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined she was killed by another person, according to a spokesperson.
