WATAUGA COUNTY, N.C. — The Department of Homeland Security said it is delivering an additional $155 million in public assistance funding for Hurricane Helene relief.
U.S. Senator Ted Budd (R-N.C.) noted the money will specifically go toward reimbursing western North Carolina communities.
“After numerous conversations with Secretary Noem about ensuring that new Helene recovery projects receive swift approval and reimbursement, I have agreed to lift my hold on the DHS General Counsel nominee, James Percival, as soon as the approved funds are received by Western North Carolina communities," Budd said in a news release.
Budd also said he is willing to use "every level of power" he has as a U.S. Senator to help western North Carolina with continued recovery efforts.
