There’s every reason to believe the Titans might have collected a haul similar to that of the New York Jets, had Tennessee chosen to put star defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons on the block leading up to the NFL trading deadline on Tuesday.
The Jets, rebuilding like the Titans, hit the jackpot when they traded defensive tackle Quinnen Williams to Dallas, gaining a 2027 first-round pick, a 2026 second-round pick and defensive tackle Mazi Smith in return.
Simmons and Williams share plenty of similarities.
Each player was a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft, each has earned Pro Bowl honors three times and each has been highly productive.
